The marketing emphasized the film's distinctive vérité style by noted director Gus Van Sant, so I felt the website ought to be lean and HTML, unlike the standard practice at the time of elaborate Flash-animated multimedia experiences.

I recall having gotten pretty far along in the design process before we saw the movie poster featuring the salmon-colored elephant, and really struggled with incorporating it into the well-in-progress site.
