The official promotional site for the Fine Line Features movie The Invisible Circus.
This site is an oddity I had nearly forgotten about. The New Line Cinema department typically had two designers on staff, and we alternated which of us would design & build each Fine Line Features or Picturehouse movie promotional site. We were both available when the movie The Invisible Circus arose, and it was decided that each of us would work separately on different halves of the site -- literally. I don't remember whose idea this was; if it was mine, I apologize, because the whole endeavor was complicated to coordinate.
The film itself alternated between two time periods, and I took the left side (the past) and the other designer the right (the present). I think we may even have gone so far as each of us creating a different downloadable Mac & Windows screensaver, which now seems like an awful amount of effort to promote a little-seen movie.
Screenshots below, with the other designer's side blurred out:
Another curiosity: a screenshot of a microsite I worked on, to promote the film's release for Pay-Per-View (then a lucrative part of any movie's release cycle, which was often promoted separately than theatrical or DVD). I would sometimes stubbornly take the "microsite" and "minisite" terms literally, because I personally liked creating itty-bitty websites.
