A documentary film about a professional athlete was very outside the norm for Fine Line Features at the time. I heard a rumor (I repeat: an unconfirmed rumor) that one or more New Line executives were frustrated by the arthouse nature of most Fine Line films, and were pushing for more populist fare like this.

As for me, I am profoundly disinterested in sports, so this wasn't exactly the most exciting site to work on. My best idea was that the site would be very "tall". This proved impractical, to say the least, as Flash was still the norm for movie promotional sites at the time.
