Shine was The Bump's native iOS app for people who are pregnant or trying to conceive. I served as the UX Designer, and below are a selection of my early explorations and prototypes, followed by some later high-fidelity UX wireframes, after a separate UI designer had taken a pass.
In this case study:
Early Explorations: Case Study
Below is a selection of my earliest explorations for the app, at which point it was still under the working title "Trace". These are mostly sketches of possible data visualizations and interaction elements, with minimal color.
The centerpiece data viz element was of course a representation of a person's monthly cycle. Also important to determine during this phase were the interface elements for recording basal body temperature, and single-select menus for period symptoms or cervical position.
Prototypes: Case Study
Below are four clickable interactive prototypes I built to explore options for recording one's period and basal body temperature. I created these particular prototypes in Flash, because I was adept in the app and could work quickly.
In the below interactive prototype, you can click on "Period", "Basal Body Temperature", or "Sex", to view the data visualizations. Unlike the four above, this particular prototype was built in HTML/JS/CSS with Tumult Hype.
High-Fidelity UX Wireframes: Case Study
From later in the process, here are some of my high-fidelity UX wireframes. If I recall correctly, these utilize the UI from a more refined design pass from The Bump's UI designer.
