Depending on how you count, one could argue I had something like a blog on my personal site since about 1997. I wrote pieces for numerous themed sections of the site, including Flicker (on movies), Noise (on music), Hyperactive (nonlinear hypertext writing), and Word Up (miscellany).

Circa 2004, I set up a proper blog on a separate domain. It originally ran on the Moveable Type platform, after which I migrated to Wordpress. There were periods where I would focus on it quite a lot, posting often. But I would just as easily let it sit quietly for months or years at a time.

By around 2011, I had hacked together a complicated custom Wordpress theme:

The above theme was a nightmare to maintain, and eventually suffered for not being responsive. So for later iterations, and to this day, I returned to using lightly customized official Wordpress themes. A project on my long-term to-do list is to fully integrate it into chadossman.com.
