New Machine was an unofficial fan site dedicated to the noted guitarist and singer-songwriter Chris Whitley, that had been adopted into a semi-official site by the artist and his label Messenger Records. I was asked to do a comprehensive redesign, based on the modest success of the small community that had built up around Breakdown, another music fan site I had initiated.

I redesigned and restructured the existing content with new navigation and look & feel, inspired by Whitley's music, and the limited amount of imagery available. Ongoing site maintenance was handled by others, and the site was eventually superseded by a true official site circa June 2001.
